Dealing With Feelings
Posted on: 08-15-2006 @ 02:56 pm

One of the craziest pieces of advice I was ever given through the Church is that feelings (aka emotions) are neither right nor wrong, they are just there. That is absolutely not true! Some emotions/feelings can be completely wrong.

Here are some examples of wrong feelings:

(1) I often feel unloved when, the truth is that the King—the Creator, no less!—loves me, loves me, loves me!

(2) I often feel inadequate, when the truth is that I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me.

(3) I often feel like running away and hiding, when the truth is God has commanded me to be strong and courageous and be a part of the Body of Christ.

(4) I often feel I do more harm than good, when the truth is God delights in using the foolish and weak for His glory.

Need I go on?

Let’s take those wrong feelings and turn them into right feelings. Sometimes all it takes is a sigh, because even a sigh directed at God is a prayer. And did you notice how important THE WORD is in all those wrong feelings I mentioned above. God’s Word has an answer and a correction for every one of those wrong feelings.

So, let’s go for it. Today is a new day. May this be a day we rejoice in the Lord. The sun is just now painting the eastern sky with a crimson glow, and a sliver of an iridescent moon still hangs over the Face of Needle Rock. Wow! That’s unusual. I wonder what other unusual things will take place on this day!

May God bless you with renewed wonder at what He has ALREADY done for you!
